New Sanctuary Coalition runs a weekly clinic staffed by non-attorney volunteers and supervised by experienced immigrants rights organizers and immigration lawyers. You do not need prior experience to participate; we will train you. The clinic helps people identify ways to get relief from deportation and detention; access other immigration-related benefits; understand their rights so they can fight their own case; apply for asylum; prepare for court appearances or interviews; and much more.
Our Pro Se Clinic has been growing rapidly in the past year - more rapidly than we can feel we are able to sustain in the current structure. We want to make sure that both Friends and volunteers have the best possible experience.
We have begun making a number of changes to create a less chaotic clinic: less team match-up madness at the start, shorter wait to see attorneys, more support from clinic staff and leaders, more physical space, and more opportunity for trainings. Most importantly, we're making this change so we can provide better quality assistance to more Friends.
We will begin screening new friends on a different day than clinic to make sure we can handle emergencies appropriately and quick questions/changes quickly. We are doing these screens on Wednesday evenings and we need volunteers to help us. We are looking for fluent Spanish speakers and Kreyol speakers.
Please sign up here if you are fully fluent in Spanish or Kreyol and want to take part.
This event is full - we wish we could fit more people in the room! If you're interested in being involved in our clinic please let us know on the form below and we will reach out to you as we plan more trainings.
