Keeping families together and advocating against deportations

What are the 1996 immigration laws and why do they matter?

In order to dismantle a violent, dehumanizing and unjust system, we need to understand how it works and who benefits from it. The immigration and criminal systems thrive in the shadows, and popular education gives us the weapons to see into the dark corners of their brutality.

This is the first in a series of trainings on the system of laws that make the caging of immigrants, massive deportations, and ongoing separation of families possible, as well as trainings on who is financially benefiting from the incarceration and deportation machine.

From these trainings we will develop political campaigns to dismantle our current immigration system, and offer a humane alternative that recognizes the dignity of all people and keeps our communities whole.
