The Riverside Church is located on Manhattan's Upper West Side in the Columbia University area. The church covers a two-block area extending between Riverside Drive and Claremont Avenue and 120th Street to 122nd Street. (120th Street is also named Reinhold Niebuhr Place.) The Claremont Avenue entrance (91 Claremont Avenue) is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Directions

Subway
Take train No. 1 (Broadway Local) to 116th Street. (If the Broadway Express (#2 or #3) is taken uptown from midtown Manhattan, be sure to transfer to the local 1 train at 96 Street and then get off at 116th St.) Walk north along Broadway (the street numbers increase and you will pass Barnard College on the left) to 120th Street (Reinhold Niebuhr Place). Turn left and walk one block to Claremont Avenue. Turn right onto Claremont Avenue to 91 Claremont, which is a half-block north of 120th Street on the left hand side of the street.

Parking

The Claremont Avenue Garage, located below the church’s South Wing, is operated by Rapid Park Inc., 212.870.6736, and is open to the public: Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to midnight (7am on weekends). The entrance is on 120th Street between Riverside Drive and Claremont Avenue. The night fee is a flat rate of $15; for all day the fee is $30. They do not take reservations in advance.

Street parking in New York City is limited and tricky (read all the signs around you before you decide to park!).  But it is much easier to come by if you arrive early.  Alternate side of the street parking is found on Claremont Avenue but usually are taken as soon as the street sweeper goes by in the morning.

Garages in the following list are the closest to the church. Prices are not regulated, but garages must post their rates conspicuously near the entrance. Garages are required to charge sales tax (over 18%) and also impose various surcharges. Please call garages directly for current prices and reservations. An online search tool for comparison prices can be found at www.nycgarages.com.
